Date: Wednesday, February 10
Time: 11am ET
Length: 1 hour, 20 min

Query Store is a great troubleshooting tool. However, four years after its introduction with SQL Server 2016, it is still underused and it has not been embraced by customers as it deserves. In this session, you will learn about Query Store purpose, its architecture, and its internals. You’ll see what can be achieved with Query Store and how it can help you not only to identify performance issues more efficiently but also to fix some of them.

Many people have concerns about the impact Query Store can have on the production workload; this is one of the reasons why they do not use it. In this session, you will see how to configure Query Store properly so that this tool does not significantly impact your workload. After that, you'll see Query Store in action in four real-life examples. You will see what does the plan forcing mean, when it is a good idea and when not. You’ll also see how capturing waits can help you to find out, for instance whey a query was slow yesterday night.

Finally, you will learn about common issues with Query Store and how to mitigate them.
