Bob (@bobwardmsis a Principal Architect for the Microsoft Data Services Group which owns the development and servicing for all SQL Server versions. Bob has worked for Microsoft for 25 years supporting and speaking on every version of SQL Server shipped from OS/2 1.1 to SQL Server 2017. He has worked in customer support as a principal escalation engineer and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) interacting with some of the largest SQL Server deployments in the world. Bob is a well-known speaker on SQL Server often presenting talks on new releases, performance, and internals events such as SQL PASS Summit, SQLBits, SQLIntersection, and Microsoft Ignite. Troubleshooting performance problems with SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) can be a frustrating exercise. In this session, our SSAS experts will offer time-saving tips for tracking trace events and troubleshooting SSAS bottlenecks for both MDX and Tabular modes. We’ll also show you some handy tools for uncovering SSAS performance problems.

John is a Senior Product Manager at SentryOne responsible for product initiatives related to Advanced Analytics, Big Data, and Business Intelligence, both on-premises and in-cloud. Previously he spent his last 8 years at Microsoft on the SQLCAT and AzureCAT teams. He has worked for Microsoft since March 2001 and has developed a broad range of expertise from OSS Development to Big Data and Analytics Architecture in the cloud. John is an accomplished presenter and has presented topics ranging from Pivotal Cloud Foundry in Azure to Analysis Services at SQL Server PASS Summits, Microsoft TechReady and many other global conferences. He is one of the authors of Professional Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services with MDX and the technical editor for Professional Microsoft PowerPivot for Excel and SharePoint. John holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration with a minor in MIS from the Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina.
